If you are interested in joining the RADIAL trial, the first step is to complete the ‘pre-screener’ questionnaire which you can access below. This will ask you some simple questions to indicate whether the trial might be suitable for you.
If this looks likely, a member of the research team will phone you to further assess your eligibility. After that, you will be given access to an online portal with more detailed, but easy-to-follow, information about the trial, which you can digest at your own pace.
Once it’s been confirmed that you are eligible for the RADIAL trial, deciding whether or not to join is entirely up to you. You can take as much time as you need to consider the information and ask as many questions as you like. You will also be free to discuss the opportunity with your own doctor and anyone else whose opinion you may value.
Informed consent
When you are ready, a trial doctor will arrange a video call with you to discuss the trial and go through all your questions. This should enable you to make an informed decision about whether to join (‘informed consent’). A family member, friend or caregiver may join you for this discussion.
If you decide to join, the trial doctor will ask you to confirm your identity and show you how to sign the informed consent form using an electronic signature. You will need to provide your home address and permission to contact your own doctor in order to access your medical history.
Even if you sign the informed consent form, you will be free to change your mind at any time and leave the trial whenever you wish.
